TAD HMs represent!
I got TAD orders to Parris Island from Portsmouth Naval Hospital to cover the influx of recruits and wow what an eye opener.
Refusing to hydrate leads you to fall out, who woulda thunk?
The protocol then was to toss said marine onto a litter stretcher, cover him/her with a sheet and flood their downed body with ICE AND WATER after assessing that their internal body (anal) temperature was greater than 101F. From there they were transported to the Base Clinic to be dropped ass first into giant tubs full of chilled salinated water, just to have chilled IV fluid infused through a very large bore IV line.
I was so happy to transition from Phase 1 where most heat injuries occur to FTU (Page Field) where the rappel tower, gas chamber and night infiltration course was/is.
Best part? Watching seasoned marines go through D.I. School. Better yet, watching the Depot marines come through and fuck with Drill Instructors as part of an audit.
