I don’t have much information. His name was Sgt. Smith. Fought in Vietnam and was injured on January 23rd 1968. He was in the special forces (green berets).
He stepped on a land mine, shot seven times, rescued. Still able to tell the helicopters where to land. Seven Sisters Mountain was on fire, the helicopter hit a tree and the blade broke. My friends heard the story and believe he deserves military honors and are trying to find more info to proceed. One of my friends was a vietnam vet (helicopter pilot) his best friend, who fought during Tet Offensive, was there and told him the story.
I would love some help please. Thank you.
